Quick Tip from Zia’s Kitchen this fine Tuesday is about Lemon’s.

“when life gives you lemons……..”  squeeze those bad boys and make lemonade, then of course don’t forget the vodka and pour over ice!

Recipes call for fresh Lemon <or Lime> juice quite a bit, and I don’t know about you but for many years I would cut one in half and squeeze it for the juice and be frustrated that I wasn’t strong enough to get it all the juice out.

This tip is so easy, you probably already know it, but on the off-chance you don’t here you go.

Use a Fork.

Simple.  After you roll the lemon back and forth on the counter a few times ~ applying pressure ~ Slice and then tick a fork in like above and turn it one direction while squeezing the lemon or lime and turning it the opposite direction.  The fork really gets in there and helps you get all of that beautiful fresh juice out for your recipes, salad dressings, cocktails and more. Squeeze the Lemon into a bowl or through a strainer so those pesky little seeds don’t end up in your food.

So when cooking calls for lemons, stick a fork in them. Just don’t forget to save some for the martini.
